Hi everyone just an update for anyone who has problems with the transmission oil cooler lines. The lines were well and truly seized into radiator connections and eventually the actual radiator bosses started to turn so a new radiator was ordered and fitted along with new lines everything is working fine now no more leaks, thanks to the people who replied to my thread. After clearing the errors, everything went back to normal, at least for about 10 minutes or so. After that the gearbox started slipping again, the F reappeared. The P, N and R positions are working normally, but in D it stays in the same gear (the 3rd or 4th I guess). I took it to a mechanic, and the errors that appeared are: P1843 and P1862.

Transmission Fluid Problems. One possible reason your Mercedes automatic gearbox is not changing gear could be due to transmission fluid problems. Low transmission fluid level or poor fluid quality can cause difficulty shifting gears. To address this issue, check the fluid level and condition, and consider replacing the fluid and filter if

I have a Mercedes E280 W210 1998 everytime I drive for about 150 to 200 km the car smokes, the mechanic overall the engine but the problem still persist. He now tell me the PVC Positive Clear Ventilation Valve on both the Tappet covers are bypassing the oil back into the engine via the intake.
My guess is that you have either a problem with the engine - down on power - a problem with the torque converter (less likely with a 722.1 - as from what I've read these torque converters only usually fail when the tabs that slot into the primary pump shear off because said pump is stuck) - a problem with the transmission (governor sticking adWd.
